Sorry for leaving here for such a long time. Finally, I have time to renew my lifejournal! I'm working in the museum now, and I was supposed to work here from noon to 5pm everyday until my first class starts. Since the new semester hasn't started yet, it is so quiet in the VUCA that only three people from Chicago came to lookaround our gallery yesterday. That's why I can bring my laptop and write my journal in my working time. (There is no wireless net signal here, so what I can do is to write journal now and post it later. And, since the net signal isn't very well in my apartment, so I have to go to my friends' apartment to post it. I really want to share my life and thought with you all. J)
Well, it's the time to talk about my 9-day Christmas trip. It was a wonderful experience that 6 of us had arrived 5 cities in three states. Here are the brief travel notes.
Dec. 19
Los Angles (California State)
After 30 minutes in the car, 2 hours on the shuttle and 4 hours in the plane, all of us said we were so hungry that we could eat a cow.(That's how Chinese people usually describe they are hungry, which is overstating for sure.) At last, we had the mixed harslets of cow as our first dinner in LA. In China, we call it “牛杂”(niu za).
Dec. 20
Las Vegas (Nevada State)
We saw the volcano break forth show in Mirage, the Brazilian Samba show in Rio, the manmade sky in Venetian, and water fountain dancing show in Ballys. We visited almost every luxurious hotel, run out of all the batteries of camera we had. After midnight, we went to Golden gate restaurant to taste shrimp cocktail. Can anybody tell me what else people usually order together with the shrimp cocktail, beer or something else? If I only ordered a bottle of shrimp cocktail, will that be weird?
That night, we only slept 2 hours and a half.
Dec. 21
The Grand Canyon (Arizona State)
It's an amazing place, which be called an scar on the face of the earth. You will have wings if you hold your breath, you can fly if you close your eyes, but if you forward a step... don't do that!
That night, we live in the Laughlin, the third largest casino city in Nevada State, where I won my 15 dollars.
Dec. 22
London Bridge
It was rebuilt in 1968, and every stones of this bridge were shipped from London. I admire the builder.
Dec. 23
Denmark Village and Herst Castle
It spent 28 years (1919-1947) to build the Herst Castle. We visited the hundreds of guest rooms of the castle. You can not believe how luxurious they were unless you were there. Also, there was a swimming poor which was almost build with gold! The garden was full of middle ages statues, fountains, different kinds of flowers and plants. When the afterglow appeared, I just felt I was in the wonderland.
Dec. 24
San Francisco
We went to the place of art, golden gate bridge, the fishmen pier, twin peaks, Castro and the City Hall. We don't have much more time to learn this city better, but a Canadian friend told me that San Francisco was a fabulous city to live. Well... I think I prefer Valpo when I'm still in school.
Dec 25
Monterey
Standing before the Pacific Ocean, you will feel you are nothing. Seeing the beautiful scenery, you will forget all the annoyance. Here, you can think or not, you can sing or not, you can do whatever you want (except illegal things), you just relax, totally...
Dec 26
Disneyland
That's my world. I don't know how to describe it better. The Christmas parade made me excited and the fireworks almost made me cry. I was so impressed by the fake snow. Seeing people hug their families, I felt something wet in my eyes...
Dec 27
Universal Studio
Fantastic place to go! You will feel you are right the super star! Actually, in my opinion, everybody is a super star in their own lives. Everybody has a dream. We should work hard to let the dream come true!
We spend a whole night in the airport and checked in at 4:00am, Dec.28, 2006...we are back...
